Frequently Asked Questions

Questions before our photo session:

What should we wear to the photo session?

  • It is best to keep clothing simple, avoiding logos or busy patterns. I suggest wearing  layers/textures. In group photos, I recommend coordinating your colors rather than matching. Feel free to bring a simple change of clothing, keep in mind if we are on location changing clothes may be a challenge, layering is an easy and quick way to change outfits.

    • Wear clothes that are comfortable and represents you and your family. Wear what is comfortable, if your not comfortable the pictures will reflect it!

    • Avoid busy patterns or characters on shirts (ie; Mickey Mouse.) Also please avoid everyone wearing matching outfits (ie; blue jeans and white shirt.) Consider where the photo session is taking place and choose complimentary colors.

    • DON'T match. But DO coordinate.  Wearing clothes that are the same level of dressiness is really as matching as it needs to be.

    • These photos will hopefully be hanging on your walls for years! Choosing classic clothes will help give your pictures a timeless feel.

What should we bring?

  • For family and/or children photo sessions please bring the following: blanket for the family to sit on, outfit changes, a drink, small snacks, favorite toy, special stuffed animal. Please make sure your little ones have been fed and had a good night sleep before the photo session for a more comfortable and positive experience.

What if we have to cancel our session?

  • A full refund will be submitted if the cancellation is requested 30+ days prior to the session.

  • If a cancellation is requested 29 days or less a refund will not be given. We will do our best to reschedule a new session date on a mutually agreed upon date within 90 days of the original session date.

  • Only one reschedule date is permitted.

Why do you prefer to do the photo session in the first hour of daylight?

  • There are several reasons I like to photograph in the first 1-2 hours of daylight. The light is best in the morning rather than midday. Public locations tend to be less crowded in the morning. Children tend to do much better in the morning after a good night's rest and eating breakfast.

What if we have questions before the photo session?

  • You can call or email me anytime. If you need to get in touch with me the day of the session a phone call is best.

Questions during our photo session

What do we do if the weather is questionable for the day of our session?

  • We will stay in touch before the session day, sometimes seemingly-moody-weather can make for great photos.  Cloudy overcast skies make for some great photos. I will advise you whether the appointment should be cancelled due to weather. Bad weather that has all day rain forecasted will probably need a rescheduling.

What if our location is unavailable or busy?

  • Crowded places, like cities or busy public parks, are among the tougher locations for a portrait session. If our specific location is busy or unavailable we will do our best to work around the issue. We can move to another location nearby or find a whole new location. We will make it work under the circumstance.

Can I see the pictures during the photo session?

  • I might give you sneak peek or two during the sessiont. It is a more natural and dynamic photo session if we spend less time looking at the back of the camera and spend more time shooting! Also makes for a much better reveal of the final photos.

What if my children are not happy during the photo session?

  • The photo session could last up a hour, but there is plenty of room for flexibility. If your children need a break or snack we can stop for a bit or shoot other members of the family.

  • The great thing about my style of photography (natural light & lifestyle photography) is that it requires very little formal posing! I want you and your children to be completely comfortable, to relax and just enjoy each others company. Children are free to explore, roam about and play while I snap away, capturing some beautiful memories for you! Most often the most spontaneous moments are the best.

Questions after our photo session

What is the turnaround time for the final edited photos?

  • I know that you are anxious to see your images. The final edited pictures will be ready for viewing within 2 weeks. You will get a little sneak peak of your session within 2-3 days.

What kind of files are included with the session fee?

  • High resolution jpegs are included. These files will perfect for most all your printing needs.

  • Basic editing is included with your photo session. Color, cropping and minor retouches.

  • A downloadable link will be provided for 60 days after the final files have been delivered.

  • A password protected gallery will be provided on TwoHam.com for 60 days after the final files have been delivered.

How are the final photos selected?

  • The final selection of photos and editing is done by me. There might be a number of reasons a pose or particular location was not selected. I take a lot of care and time selecting the best photos from our session together. If a pose, location or background was not selected there just wasn’t a great photo to select from.

Can I have the raw, unprocessed pictures or outtakes?

  • Unfortunately I do not under any circumstance provide raw, unprocessed or outtake photos. I will only provide final edited files.

How can I use the final pictures TwoHam Photography delivers to me?

  • You are free to print them using your own printer or online services (I can recommend a few) and publish them on your Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. If you do publish them online, it would be lovely to have a mention or link to my website! TwoHam.com
